December,2025
|
| Dear parents and students, |
| The last month of 2025 can be considered a very "busy" one. In addition to completing the first summative assessment of the school year for P2 to P6, everyone has various activities to participate in. Firstly, on Tuesday, 2nd December, teachers attended the Tuen Mun District Teacher Professional Development Day, while students had a day off. The teachers went to the B.P International Gordon Wu Hall in Kowloon to participate in two lectures and a forum, all related to Artificial Intelligence (AI). Recently, the Education Bureau has also launched a funding initiative called "AI For Empowering Learning and Teaching Funding Programme" designed to support primary and secondary schools in effectively using AI to enhance teaching and learning efficiency. We hope to gain ideas on how to practically implement AI across subjects to improve student learning outcomes.

| On Thursday, 4th December, we held the annual "LTY Joyful Fun" for P1 students, celebrating the 100th day since they started primary school. We sincerely thank the parents for their participation. The P1 students prepared various performances, including reciting Chinese poetry, singing English songs, chanting numbers, showcasing art and crafts, and presenting interdisciplinary projects. Following the performances, a mini sports competition was organized in response to The National Game of People’s Republic of China. P1 students and their parents joyfully participated, focusing on the moment of togetherness rather than winning or losing. Everyone cherished the time spent together.

| On Friday, 5th December, we took the time during the morning assembly to hold a simple yet heartfelt life education class titled "All Together, Heartfelt Gatherings." No one in Hong Kong is unaware of the fire at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po on 26th November. The school used this incident to respond to the cross-curriculum activities from last year's life education, which included reading picture books about the birth of new life, emphasizing the importance of treasuring life because it is precious. This year, we discussed the end of life with the students. Although this topic is difficult and can be hard for younger students to understand, we feel it's our responsibility to explain it. We introduced key terms like silence, lowering flags, appropriate attire, and offering flowers. Teachers also presented relevant picture books for the students to read, displayed fire safety panels for students to appreciate and learn about, and incorporated the same theme across different subjects to highlight coherence. The first period was changed to a classteacher lesson, where teachers would provide in-depth explanations. Finally, everyone had the opportunity to send blessings to those affected, learning how to write heartfelt cards to express support and goodwill. Before noon, we arranged a fire drill for the students to experience. Everyone completed it quickly, but some P1 students, who had never participated in a drill before, became anxious and even cried. We believe that through this life education session, students came to understand and cherish life, appreciating the moments spent with those around them. That afternoon, to allow all students a chance to relax after assessments, we organized a trip to Butterfly Bay Park for all teachers and students. P4 to P6 enjoyed a barbecue, which was successful thanks to the parents' assistance and sharing from other schools, despite the large crowd. P1 to P3 had a picnic on the grass, where some parents prepared various foods, leading to an enjoyable time. Some parents even requested that this event be held every year.

| Sunday, 7th December was the voting day for the Legislative Council election. Prior to this, the school took the opportunity during morning assemblies to explain the process to students and hosted an event called "Polite Youth,” which allows students to experience the election process firsthand. The school also served as one of the polling centers in the Tuen Mun District on that day. |

On the morning of Wednesday, 10th December, we arranged for the P6 students to have their graduation photos taken. Seeing them in their graduation gowns made us realize how much they have grown and how soon they will be graduating and moving on, bringing a sense of bittersweet emotion. Everyone participated in this important milestone with joy, and teachers also took the opportunity to take photos with the students to capture this beautiful moment.

Although the National Games of People’s Republic in China have concluded, we were excited to welcome a guest athlete to share her experience with the students: our alumna, Chong Ka Yan. During her time at our school, she was already a member of the athletics team and participated in dance classes. She achieved outstanding results in her studies and entered The Chinese University of Hong Kong, where she began to explore rugby. Through hard work and practice, she eventually became a member of the Hong Kong team. On Friday, 12th December, we had her back at school to share her journey, which was truly exciting. She was polite and cheerful, constantly asking about the school's development, teachers, students, and activities. In the school hall, her sharing and demonstrations captivated the students. The purpose of her visit was to encourage them to pursue their dreams bravely, just like she did.
At the end of her talk, she expressed interest in touring the campus and proactively engaged in conversation with the teachers, showing her approachable nature. We definitely plan to invite her as the guest of honor for next year's inter-school athletics meet, and she verbally agreed!

Tuesday, 16th December was a clear and pleasant day, perfectly coinciding with the 33rd Inter-school Sporty Day. All events were successfully completed smoothly. In the afternoon, the guest of honor, Cheung San Chuen, delivered an encouraging speech to the athletes, emphasizing the importance of staying active for good health and embodying the spirit of perseverance. The students greatly benefited from this message. Although we were unable to reclaim the overall championship this year, student Sin Hang Yi from Class 5A broke the long-standing boys' 60-meter record, achieving a time of 9.12 seconds, a record that had stood for 20 years. We hope this year's Inter-school Sport Day has helped students truly understand the principle of "humility in victory and resilience in defeat."

The day after the Sport Day, everyone had the chance to rest. However, the principal, 4 teachers, and 24 students gathered in the morning to head to Shanghai for an exchange with our sister school, Zhongyuan Road Primary School. Initially, there were concerns about the cold weather in Shanghai. Fortunately, except for the first day, the weather remained clear and sunny every day, with mild temperatures—perfect for outings. The itinerary is as follows:

On the morning of the second day, we headed to our sister school for the exchange. Before we even reached the school entrance, we spotted Principal Li waving at us with a bright smile to welcome us. As we entered the school gate, we noticed various booths, all themed around technological development, and the students were eager to participate. However, we first proceeded to the school hall to complete the exchange ceremony before returning to the playground to join the activities at the booths. Our teachers gathered in a conference room with the sister school to discuss school development and recent curricular innovations, learning from each other. After two years, when we returned for another visit, we noticed significant changes. Principal Li had put a lot of effort into incorporating technology and sports elements, aligning the students’ growth with national educational developments—something we aim to learn from. One of the most memorable moments of the trip was visiting the Oriental Pearl Tower, as the students ascended to the observation deck. They were able to overlook the entire city of Shanghai. Some students who are afraid of heights were quite anxious. As we descended to the next level, we found that the observation deck featured a glass floor, making it feel like walking in mid-air at a height of 263 meters. Many students, due to their fear of heights, hesitated to walk out. However, after encouragement from their peers, they all managed not only to walk around but also to sit down and take photos on the glass floor. It was truly inspiring to see their bravery! Our four-day, three-night exchange with our sister school in Shanghai was a successful completion. We also want to commend the students for their cooperation and adherence to rules throughout the trip. Students have gained a better understanding of the new developments in our country, motivating us to work harder in our studies. This will enable us to contribute to our country in the future.

While some teachers and students were in Shanghai for the exchange, our school hosted various activities at the same time. On Thursday, 18th December, we celebrated English Learning Day, with the theme "Christmas Around The World." The aim was to help students understand how different countries celebrate Christmas in unique ways. Our NET teacher Miss Ruth and the Head of the English Department, Mr. Jeff Chan, prepared a learning booklet that introduced the activities at the booths and the various methods different countries use to celebrate Christmas. Students joyfully sang Christmas songs, which also incorporated physical elements. One of the highlights for the students was making cookies together in the hall. Everyone was very focused on cookie production, making it a fulfilling activity that catered to both their creative and culinary desires. This English activity provided students with numerous opportunities to use English and learn new vocabulary, significantly boosting their confidence in learning the language.

On Friday, 19th December, we held our Christmas celebration. All students gathered in the hall to enjoy a play titled "Fun with Classical Chinese." Classical Chinese can be quite challenging for students, but the actors in the play presented it in a simple and engaging manner, making the difficult language both interesting and easier to learn. During the performance, students were very attentive and laughter filled the room, creating a lively atmosphere. Following the play, we organized a small games activity in the school hall. Students were highly engaged, cheering for all participants. These games required not only physical strength but also patience and carefulness to complete. Of course, we cannot forget the potluck organized by each class, where parents prepared a variety of foods to share with everyone. This festive Christmas celebration aimed to help students feel the love and care between people. After this day, we officially began the Christmas and New Year holidays, allowing both teachers and students to take a well-deserved break. From 29th to 31st December, the Heep Hong Society held an adaptation program at our school, concluding with a parent seminar on the last day to explain our school’s unique features. Seeing the students attending classes in various places around the school, with curious eyes and joyful smiles, reminded us to strive to create a school that emphasizes "experience-based" learning for these future leaders. With that, we wish all teachers, students, and parents a Happy New Year and good health. See you in 2026!
